Laptops are not as flexible as computer towers for upgradeability which limits what can be done.

The most common upgrades for a Laptop are Ram and Hard Drives.

If your laptop has a PCMCIA slot, you can add plug in cards to give you extra USB ports, or a Firewire port, or even a Wireless adaptor.
